Fence design made of corrugated sheets. How to make a fence from corrugated sheets with your own hands? stage

Profiled steel sheet can be used not only as a roofing material. It can be used to make an inexpensive and fairly durable decorative fence.

Types of profiled steel sheet

Corrugated sheeting is a building material that has a profile in the form of a corrugation (wave), made in the shape of a trapezoid. By purpose it is divided into:
roofing (load-bearing): marked with the letter “H”, the most durable material, having significant thickness and high corrugation, is equipped with additional grooves to provide rigidity; used not only for constructing roofs, but also in the construction of hangars and the manufacture of transport containers;
load-bearing wall (“NS”): universal corrugated sheeting, has average rigidity, used both as a roofing and finishing material for finishing facades;
wall (marked “C”): looks very attractive, but has insignificant thickness, therefore it is used mainly for decorative wall decoration;
corrugated sheeting for fences and other types of fencing;
used as formwork.

Marking of corrugated sheets

In labeling corrugated sheeting, the number immediately following the first letter indicates corrugation height(waves). The second block of numbers indicates mounting and general width and height leaf. For example, if for corrugated sheeting 1150/1200 mm a total width of 1200 is indicated through a slash (slash), this means that the difference between these numbers 1200 - 1150 = 50 mm is equal to the overlap width between the sheets. The last one is indicated metal thickness.

The letters included in the markings indicate type of coating this material. There are several types of such coatings:

Galvanized: the thickness of the zinc layer significantly affects the anti-corrosion properties of the material; Products that are too cheap and have a minimal layer of zinc will very quickly become unusable;
coated with aluzinc (an alloy of zinc and aluminum): a more expensive type of coating that significantly increases the service life of the material;
single- or double-sided polymer coatings made of polyester, plastisol, pural or PVDF: they have not only a decorative, but also a protective function; the most inexpensive type of coating is polyester.
In addition to traditional colored coatings, a pattern can be applied to the corrugated sheet using photo offset printing that imitates stone, brick, wood and other natural materials. It can have curly edges or even be made in the form.

Installation procedure

1. Before starting work, tension the fence around the perimeter twine, along which pegs are placed every 2-3 meters - the locations of future pillars.

Marking the fence

2. Metal posts with a cross-section of 60 mm or more are cut to size, thoroughly cleaned of dust and rust and covered with a layer of primers, and are subsequently painted in the required color. Such supports must have the same height, so for marking it is better to stretch a string along the outer support posts (they are installed first).

Layout of metal supports

3. The pillars must be installed strictly horizontally, so during installation you should check their position several times building level.
4. After installing the supports, the prepared pits are filled with sand cushion, then crushed stone is laid, which is poured concrete-cement mixture, made from pure, clay-free sand and cement of a grade not lower than M200. To strengthen the concrete, it is laid inside the pit. reinforcement cage.

Arrangement of reinforcement cage for support pillars

5. To prevent moisture from concrete from seeping into the ground, before pouring it is better to prepare a so-called cylindrical formwork from roofing felt or thin metal sheet. Such a fence will protect the concrete from damage by groundwater.

Important! To increase the service life of the metal and protect it from corrosion, the supporting pipes after concreting are closed from above plugs made of wood or metal.

6. When constructing a fence in wet or too loose soil, a full-fledged one is made for the fence or used instead of ordinary support posts.

Making a strip foundation for a fence

7. It is better to use a strip foundation when constructing a fence with significant differences in soil height. In this case, there will be no special need to level the area.

Fencing on uneven ground

8. Depth of holes for pillars most often it is 1/3 of the height of the fence itself, but not less than 0.7-0.8 m. If the soil freezes strongly, the supports are laid in the ground to a great depth (just below the freezing level). Otherwise, the supports may simply be squeezed out to the surface.

Advice. In order not to accidentally stain corrugated sheets with paint, it is better to paint metal supports before installing the sheets. In this case, the welding areas are carefully primed.

9. Subsequent work is carried out only after complete hardening of concrete. It dries within a few days, but gains strength in a couple of weeks, so in order not to displace the structure, it is better to wait a little longer.

10. To increase the decorative properties of the fence, the supporting pillars can be laid on all sides with brick, stone or decorated with forged elements.

11. After the concrete has hardened, two or three horizontal joists cross section 60×25 mm.

12. The corrugated sheet is attached to the transverse joists using self-tapping screws with rubber pads. To strengthen the structure, the sheets are stacked overlap into 1-2 waves and connect with each other metal rivets. To prevent the fence from shaking at the slightest breath of wind, the fastenings should be tightened as tightly as possible. To install one sheet, at least eight self-tapping screws are used.

13. Lastly, the gate is installed and the locks are cut into place.

Fastening corrugated sheets

Any area must be protected from prying eyes by a reliable fence. It can be constructed from different materials. The most popular and budget option is a fence made of corrugated sheets.

It is suitable for those who want save on material and do not spend a lot of time building a fence. How to make a fence from corrugated sheets with your own hands is discussed in this article.

Advantages and disadvantages of a fence made of corrugated sheets

Corrugated fence has a number of advantages before others:

  1. corrosion resistance;
  2. strength;
  3. attractive appearance;
  4. ease of installation;
  5. relatively low cost of material;
  6.  durability;
  7. minimal care.

An important advantage of the design is the small amount of excavation work and ease of installation.

If you didn’t find a helper for you, don’t worry! With a fence like this I can handle it on my own.

The benefits of a fence made from such material include its opacity. This is important for free movement on the site. At the same time, you don’t have to be in sight of your neighbors.

Cons of corrugated sheets:

Material installation options

Installation without welding machine

What if a welding machine is not available, or a self-taught master does not know how to work with welding? You can install a fence without welding, with the help of auxiliary: brackets, bolts, self-tapping screws and a construction clamp.

With this type of fastening, you cannot use parts that can damage the protective coating.

In addition to profiled sheets, transverse fencing profiles called joists are used. It’s easy to attach the logs to the post: a bracket and a construction clamp will allow do without using a welding machine.

The following advantages are highlighted in using the bracket:

Welding use

Welding work provides metal elements of the fence reliable fastening. After welding the fasteners, the surface is treated with a special primer to secure the work done and give the product greater thickness.

Brick pillars

A fence with posts (example in the photo on the left) is chosen by the owners of households who What is important is the highest stability of the sheets and a respectable appearance.

Just like for metal pillars, markings are made for future masonry for brick fortifications.

Craftsmen make a hole into which concrete is poured. This procedure is important because large weight of the future structure. The building material is laid out in an area of 1.5 by 1.5 bricks.

Throughout the laying of a brick pillar, a level and plumb line are used for accuracy.

At a height of 0.2-0.3 meters and 1.5-1.7 meters from the top edge of the soil, they are laid inside the column brackets to support the structure. After the masonry is completed, the logs are welded to the brackets and covered with a protective coating.

After completion of the masonry, the surface of each pillar covered with a special roof to protect brick pillars from precipitation.

Fence with and without foundation

Sometimes the owner of the future fence decides to install a fencing structure made of profiled sheets without a foundation. Before making such a decision you need to consult a specialist, which will tell you about the type of soil and its swampiness.

If there are changes in the area, strong winds and watery soil, installation cannot be done without a foundation.

If the soil layer allows this type of construction, it is best to use a profile pipe 100 mm in diameter. The height of the pipe is selected based on the planned height of the fence. The top of the support is welded to prevent moisture from entering.

A building with a foundation is much more reliable than without it. If you have the financial opportunity and extra time, it is best to dig holes. They are filled with gravel mixed with broken bricks. The hole is filled with cement, with pre-fixed supports.

Fixed pillars should not be touched for four days until the cement is completely dry.

Step-by-step instructions for installing corrugated sheets

Building a detailed diagram

Work with a profiled sheet begins with drawing a detailed diagram, which will take into account all the points:

  • location of fence supports;
  •  unevenness on the ground surface;
  • The height of the fence and the length of its individual sections.

At this stage, you need to decide what type of fence will be on the site: continuous or sectional. Continuous construction involves a continuous arrangement of corrugated sheets around the entire perimeter.

A sectional fence is divided into segments separated by pillars.

Material selection

When choosing a material, you need to pay attention to the height of the sheet and its thickness. The material should not be too thin.

  1. Polyester. Protects the product from exposure to ultraviolet radiation and temperature changes. However, the relatively small thickness of the polyester coating will not protect against external damage.
  2. Plastisol. The coating is thick and resistant to all types of impact.
  3. Pural coating. This coating is made of polyurethane-polyamide paint. Able to withstand not only mechanical, but also chemical influence.
  4. PVDF coating. New development in the field of coating materials. Withstands colossal ultraviolet loads and is resistant to all types of damage.

For a country house located in a temperate climate, the best choice would be a fence with plastisol or polyester coating.

Carrying out foundation work

Carrying out foundation laying work - one of the important stages, because it is at this moment that places for future pillars are marked. And the evenness of the structure will depend on the correct location.

First produced marking the future fence. For this procedure, you can use pegs with a rope attached and a hydraulic level for accuracy. Then the places for installing the pipes are outlined. In the indicated places, recesses are made (recommended depth - 1 meter).

Installation of pillars

The pillars serve as support for the profiled sheet. From the strength of the material from which they are made, the reliability of the fence depends. The height of the pipe should be selected taking into account the depth to which the support will go into the hole.

Pillars made of profiled pipes 40x20 are popular. The thinner the corrugated sheet, the smaller the distance between the supports should be..

A budget option for supporting a fence is wood. Wooden poles are less in demand due to their fragility. However, they are able to withstand significant loads. With this choice, you need to carefully treat the pillars with an antibacterial solution.

Pillars needs to be adjusted in height. In relatively flat terrain, the fence along the horizontal line should not have significant deviations or differences. To do this, use a watery level. A mark is placed on the posts and the extra centimeters are cut off with a grinder.

The pillars are installed in pre-dug holes and filled with concrete with the addition of crushed stone. The surface of the concrete is covered with a film to prevent moisture from entering and speed up drying.

Installing poles is difficult, but it can be done with your own hands. The main thing is to be precise in your work.. It is recommended to carry out installation together with an assistant.

After the concrete has successfully dried the surface of vertical posts and logs is coated with paint or primer. If you do not carry out this procedure in advance, then later, when the sheets are already tightly held, they will interfere with surface treatment.

Fastening corrugated sheets

It is best to install corrugated sheets with a partner. One holds the bottom of the sheet at the level of the tensioned thread, and the other secures the surface with a screwdriver at the top.

After checking that the sheet is horizontal, it is strengthened in three or four more places. The sheets are fastened with self-tapping screws or bolts. Can Make the job easier with a screwdriver with low revs. Self-tapping screws must be screwed through one wave.

Despite the fact that a self-tapping screw can be easily screwed into a corrugated sheet, it is better to make a preliminary hole in the material with a diameter slightly larger than the diameter of the self-tapping screw. This is important when the metal expands linearly due to sudden temperature fluctuations.

Perpendicular screwing of the self-tapping screw- a necessary condition for attaching the profiled sheet. For better sealing of the fastening, special neoprene washers are used, which should fit tightly to the sheet.

For installation accuracy, use a level. It is important to install the first sheet evenly, since all other work will be carried out from him. The sheet is attached in four places with a distance of 20 cm from the edge. The next sheet is laid with an overlap in one wave.

To accurately hit the crossbars with a self-tapping screw, you need to pull the string from the outside at their level.

It is unacceptable to make a minimum number of fastenings: due to gusts of wind, the fence will be subject to loosening.

The final stage of installation is the installation of the end strip. It will cover the edges and create the appearance of a finished structure.

We quickly and easily build a fence from corrugated sheets without a foundation - video instructions:

The main advantages of a fence made of corrugated sheets are relative cheapness compared to other building materials for fencing, durability provided there are no mechanical damages, and ease of installation. Corrugated sheeting is a corrugated steel sheet with a protective layer, it provides noise and dust insulation, it is fireproof, and combines well with other materials.

A fence made of corrugated sheets, properly installed with your own hands, will last for ten years. The service life of some types of fence reaches 25-35 years, depending on the aggressiveness of the environment (sea wind, ammonia precipitation from the enterprise, etc.). You can make the height of the fence different, apply different patterns on it, imitating brickwork, stone, wood and others.

Corrugated sheeting for fence

When looking for a suitable corrugated fence, you will find that the difference between them lies in the covering material. The following types of metal profile coating are distinguished:

  • Polymer coating. Increases the level of protection of corrugated sheets and can be painted at the production stage.
  • Plastisol. It features a thicker coating layer, which provides protection not only from aggressive environments, but also from mechanical damage. This protective material provides greater durability.

It should be noted that the profiled sheets also differ in thickness. Metal profiles with increased thickness are used in load-bearing structures, and for a fence, a profiled sheet with a minimum thickness is suitable (rib height is about 21 mm, metal thickness is up to 0.5 mm).

While following all the tips listed above, do not forget about the appearance of the fence. You can choose a monotonous color or different patterns.

Construction of a fence made of profiled sheets

To install a fence made of profiled sheet metal poles are used (economical option), or a brick column goes around the pipe (expensive option). The pillars are installed with the same distance (after removing the length of the fence and dividing it into equal sections) or, for example, into sections of 2.5 meters, and one section will be obtained “in fact”.

The pillars are concreted, the concrete is allowed to gain strength (depending on weather conditions), and transverse logs (metal square or rectangular pipes) are installed by welding them to the main vertical pillars.

The last step is the installation of the profiled sheet on the transverse joists using rivets or roofing screws.

General scheme for constructing a simple fence made of corrugated sheets

All installation work can be divided into several stages, which we will consider below.

  • Marking the fence line.

The immediate first stage of work is marking and transferring data onto a sheet of paper. Calculate the number of segments (spans) following a simple rule for installing a fence made of corrugated sheets - the distance between vertical posts ranges from 2.5 to 3 meters. It is very convenient to “mark” future supports using wooden pegs or pieces of reinforcement.

  • Concreting metal pillars.

The height of the pillars depends on the planned height of the fence. For fences of a standard height of 2 m, use a concreting depth of 100-110 cm below the soil surface; for higher fences, accordingly, we increase the concreting depth, and for low fences, we lower it.

Having dug a hole. it is necessary to start knitting a skeleton from reinforcement under concrete (will increase the durability of concrete). Next, we prepare the concrete - 1 part cement to 3 parts sand and 4-5 parts crushed stone or slag, water. We fill holes with supports with concrete, having first checked them with a building level on all sides and fixed them so that they do not move during pouring, although specialists always double-check metal pillars with a building level after pouring.

Depending on weather conditions, concrete needs to gain strength within three days (in hot weather, moisten the concrete with water every day, this will give additional strength, and in rain and cold weather, this period must be increased by 1-2 days).

  • Installation of transverse joists.

The next step is the installation of transverse square or rectangular pipes. This is done using a welding machine by “welding” transverse joists to vertical posts. For a two-meter fence, use two transverse logs. Welding areas should be coated with primer paint to provide protection against corrosion.

  • Fastening profiled sheets.

The final stage of fence installation is attaching the corrugated sheets. The sheets are installed with an “overlap” on the adjacent sheet in one wave. They are attached to the transverse joists using roofing screws. It is also necessary to leave a small gap at the bottom of the sheet - from 5 to 10 cm, in order to allow snow and rainfall not to accumulate and to allow the wind to blow through.

Necessary materials for the fence

Before installing the fence itself, it is necessary to calculate all the necessary materials. The most important material is a profiled metal sheet that fills the main area of the fence.

Specialists in installing a fence from corrugated sheets recommend using a sheet with C18 or C21 coding.
Next, you should stock up on metal poles for vertical installation. These can be square pipes 60*60 or 40*40 mm, or round pipes with the same diameters.

You will also need metal transverse joists (rectangular pipes measuring 40*20 mm) to provide basic rigidity and strength. Profiled sheets will be installed on them.

During installation work, you will need to use the following tools:

  • Shovel and crowbar - for earthworks.
  • Grinder with cutting disc - for cutting fittings and pipes.
  • Concrete mixer, buckets – preparing and pouring concrete.
  • Brushes – for painting metal pipes.
  • Drill or screwdriver - for attaching a profiled sheet to transverse metal joists.

You will also need a construction level, a roll of rope or twine (for marking), a tape measure, a pencil, gloves and various consumables (cutting discs, electrodes, etc.).

Preparing metal for installation

The durability of paint and varnish coatings applied to a metal surface depends on the correct preliminary preparation of the metal surface for painting. The service life directly depends on the condition of the metal before painting. Therefore, if metal pipes are lying in a warehouse and are covered with a small layer of corrosion, it is necessary to remove it.

There are two types of metal preparation for painting:

  1. Primary preparation. This preparation is carried out to remove scale, dirt and rust until bare steel remains.
  2. Secondary preparation. Surface preparation leaving organic and metal coatings firmly bonded.

After these preparation steps, it is necessary to degrease (white alcohol, gasoline or acetone) the metal surface to be painted, then apply a primer layer. After the primer coat of paint has dried, apply one or more layers, depending on the aggressiveness of the environment.

After installing the vertical posts and metal cross beams, it is necessary to knock off all the scale and slag from the welding machine, and paint the welding areas in one or more layers.

The procedure for installing supports (pillars)

After all the metal supports are prepared (cut and painted), you need to begin their installation. Let's describe this process step by step:

  • Marking the territory. We divide it into segments, insert pegs and pull the tourniquet.
  • Digging holes. Using a shovel and crowbar or with a hand (electric) drill.
  • Concrete cushion. We fill the bottom of the hole with a cushion of sand and crushed stone, then compact it.
  • Pole installation. We install the support and align it with a level and plumb line.
  • Pouring concrete. We pour the concrete solution and fix the post level using boards and auxiliary material.

We accurately install corrugated fence posts, as they ensure the strength and durability of the entire structure. There is no need to rush at this stage, because it is better to spend a little more time now than to fix or even completely redo the fence in a few years.

Installation of metal transverse joists (lintels)

The installation of jumpers is carried out using bolted connections or clamps (a relatively old method) or using a welding machine, which is currently one of the most reliable and fastest methods.

Experts in installing fences of this type recommend attaching the logs at a height of 25-30 cm from the surface of the foundation or ground, and at the same distance from the intended top of the fence. This ensures optimal structural strength.

Advice. If you make fence spans 3 m long, then with a length of transverse logs of 6 m there will be a minimum amount of remnants of the metal tube, since the length of the logs will be enough for just two spans.

Installation of profiled sheets on the skeleton of the structure

After completing the main labor-intensive work, all that remains is to attach the profiled sheet. The easiest way is to fix the sheets to the transverse joists using self-drilling screws (roofing screws). Thanks to the special tip of the self-tapping screw, it drills a threaded hole using a drill or screwdriver.

When screwing in self-tapping screws, it is important to remember:

  • A loose self-tapping screw will subsequently cause leakage with a trace of corrosion.
  • A tightly twisted self-tapping screw causes deformation of the profile sheet.
  • A screw screwed in crookedly violates the integrity of the metal and creates a loose fit of the gasket, which causes corrosion.

A correctly screwed self-tapping screw is considered to be screwed in at an angle of 90 degrees with pressure that does not allow overtightening or deformation. Screw screws into every third wave.

Prices for corrugated fences with installation

The cost of a fence made from a profiled sheet depends on the thickness of the metal, the presence of a colored polymer coating on one or both sides, the length and height of the fence. Also, the price depends on the method of concreting and the foundation under the fence, the presence of additional elements in the structure (gate, gates, brick pillars, etc.).

Here are some of the approximate prices for various types of fences made of corrugated sheets (at a height of 2 m with local concreting of vertical pipes):

  • A fence made of galvanized corrugated sheets costs about 1,400 rubles per 1 linear meter.
  • A fence made of profiled sheets with a polymer coating on one side - from 1,600 rubles per 1 linear meter.
  • A fence made of profiled sheets with polymer coating on both sides - from 1800 rubles per 1 linear meter.

In addition to installing the fence itself, you need to take care of the entrances and entrances to the territory. Prices for some additional installations of related work:

  • A gate made of corrugated sheets (width up to 100 cm) with handles, a lock and a latch - about 5,000 rubles (manufacturing and installation).
  • Swing gates (from 3-4 meters) with latches and hinges – 10,000 rubles.
  • Brick pillars of one and a half bricks - 8,000 rubles/pillar.

Despite the fact that you can install the fence yourself, it will take a lot of effort and time, so it is often more profitable to order the installation of the fence from professionals.

Having installed the pillars, the user began installing the logs. We already wrote above that the logs were cut to a size that was a multiple of the pitch between the pillars. From the point of view of practicality and strength, the logs should be installed in one whole six-meter length. Moreover the logs are butt welded not on the pole, but in the space between the spans.

As an option, for greater rigidity of the fence, you can use the installation diagram of the logs with the offset of the rods by one span, proposed by the user of the portal with the nickname Yriy.

Usually, a profile pipe of rectangular cross-section, for example 40x25x2.5 mm, is used for the logs. When installing veins, it is also necessary to take into account one nuance.

Yriy User FOUMHOUSE

If the pipe is square, then it does not matter which side to weld it on, but if the pipe is rectangular, then we weld it to the pole with the wide side.

Palych R34, To mount the logs yourself, I first placed one end against the pipe, pressed it with a clamp and, aligning it horizontally using a magnetic level, fixed the second end of the log on the pole with a clamp.

Having grabbed the logs with spot welding, he welded the horizontal seams (the logs were welded overlapping).

Palych R34

To put the remaining material into use, I joined the meter-long scraps of logs remaining after cutting the 6-meter long rods, fixed them at the “fiftieth” corner with clamps and welded them in a circle. So I made 10 lags. After stripping, puttying, sanding and painting, it is impossible to find the welding site.

The user also installed temperature compensators made of steel strip every 20 meters.

“Horseshoes” are needed to level out the expansion of the metal when it is heated in the summer.

In addition to the fence, the user made a gate for household needs - delivery of building materials, garbage removal, etc. For this Palych R34 dug a trench for pouring a strip foundation to tie together the gate posts.

Sand was poured into the bottom of the trench, compacted, and roofing felt was laid to separate the concrete from the ground. Next, we welded 4 rods of the “twelfth” reinforcement to the metal pillars. Also, a 50x50x4 mm masonry steel mesh was used for reinforcement and the tape was filled with concrete.

To weld the gate leaves, and at the same time they open easily and do not warp, Palych R34 took advantage of the technology developed on our portal. To do this, the entire process is divided into several successive steps:

  • We weld the hinges to the vertical sections of the sashes.
  • We weld the sections with loops to the post.
  • We weld horizontal pipes to the sections with loops.
  • We weld the vertical ends of the sashes.
  • We weld the amplifiers in the corners of the sashes.
  • We cut the gate leaves with a grinder.

Using this technique, when gate leaves are welded from a whole piece and only then cut into halves, it is possible to avoid deformation of the metal during welding and maintain the correct geometry of the gate.

Palych R34

On the advice of welders I knew, I installed the vertical ends of the sashes not parallel, but with a wedge. At the top the gap is about 1 cm, and at the bottom 5 mm. After cutting the sashes and hanging the corrugated sheet, the gap between the sashes became almost parallel.

At this stage, work on the construction of a fence from corrugated sheets has reached the finish line. All that remains is to paint the logs and posts and hang the corrugated sheet, but there are a number of nuances that need to be taken into account in advance.

When making their own from a profiled sheet, novice developers often treat the process of painting it “carelessly,” believing that the paint can be applied directly to the rust, and if something happens, it can be repainted later. The right approach: do everything right away with high quality, even if it takes longer and is somewhat more expensive in terms of costs. But in the next 5 or more years you can forget about painting the fence.

That’s exactly how I approached the process of painting the fence thoroughly. Palych R34.

Palych R34

To properly paint fence posts and joists, I took the advice of professionals with many years of experience in this work.

So here are these tips:

  1. Before applying paint to metal, you need to clean it until it shines and then prime it. We remove all rust, old paint, oxides.

Using special chemicals to remove rust does not bring the desired result.

Therefore, we stock up on patience, take a grinder with a special attachment and clean the pipes properly.

  1. We degrease the cleaned surface with a solvent and prime it in 1-2 layers and only then paint.

Installation of a fence made of corrugated board is an urgent need, since corrugated board as a material is distinguished by its strength, reliability and durability, and the design of the fence itself is the key to the safety of household property. Thanks to the production of multi-colored versions of profiled sheets, owners of country cottages are given the opportunity to construct fencing in a harmonious combination with the overall design of the site and the style of the house.

So, you have decided to install a corrugated fence. What do you need to know about its installation so that it becomes a practical and aesthetic part of the exterior of your summer cottage?

Installation of a fence made of corrugated sheets: the main factors determining its cost

When planning the installation of a fence, experts advise accurately calculating its dimensions and deciding on the required material. If we talk about the price of corrugated sheeting, it varies in a different range depending on its type. A sheet with a thickness of 0.5 mm and a galvanized coating is distinguished by its low cost.

As a rule, such material is not used as an external fence. It will be an excellent option for a low fence inside the site. A profiled sheet of aluminum and zinc will cost a little more. Its advantage is strength and durability, since it can withstand temperature changes and is not so susceptible to corrosion. The most expensive option is a material with an applied polymer layer, of various colors and textures.

When purchasing corrugated sheets for building a fence, the following aspects should be taken into account:

  • The sheet thickness should be from 0.5 mm. The resistance of raw materials to loads depends on its indicator;
  • profile depth (8-75 mm);
  • the sheet coating must contain at least one polymer layer, which will significantly increase the service life;
The zinc content under the polymer coating must be at least 140 g/sq.m. Since the main purpose of this chemical element is to protect against corrosion, this indicator guarantees 20 years of service for the finished product.

In addition to corrugated sheeting, the fence will require square or round metal pipes, guide logs, and fasteners.

The process of installing support pillars

As supports it is meant to use metal pipes, the height of which depends on the height of the fence itself. The supports should be placed clearly horizontally, leaving 2-3 meters of distance between them.

When building a bulky structure made of brick or stone, it is necessary to construct a strip foundation, whereas when it is made from corrugated sheets, a pile foundation in the places where the supports are installed will be sufficient. In this case, the depth of the piles must be sufficient to withstand the wind load, preventing the fence from tilting.

To install pipes, it is necessary to dig holes about 0.8 m deep. It should be taken into account that the higher the fence, the larger the recess should be. The diameter of the wells should be approximately 25 cm. The next stage involves filling them with crushed stone, the layer of which varies from 10 to 20 cm. Afterwards, metal pipes are installed in them, which are leveled using a level and secured with supports. Finally, the pit is filled with concrete from the outside, and when it sets well, it is poured inside the pipe to the ground level.

Before installing the supports, they must be treated with bitumen mastic.

Experts advise that when installing pillars to a depth of 1.5 meters, fill the well with a meter of solution, and cover the remaining half meter with roofing material and fill it with sand. This structure must last at least 3 days.

To make cement mortar you will need:

  • 3 buckets of crushed stone;
  • 2 buckets of sand;
  • 1 bucket of cement.

Installation of guide joists

The number of transverse joists depends on the height of the fence. As a rule, they are attached at right angles to the support posts using a welding machine. With a fence height of 2 meters, it will be enough to install two logs, parallel to each other at a distance of 40 cm from the upper and lower edges of the fence. If the height of the country fence exceeds 2 m, it is necessary to attach an additional third joist in the middle.

When the frame is completely ready, it is necessary to treat the welding seams with a primer, and after it dries with a special enamel.

Methods for installing corrugated sheets

There are two methods of fastening profiled sheets: with self-tapping screws and rivets. The advantage of installation using self-tapping screws is that over time you can tighten loose connections or dismantle the structure.

  1. Fastening with self-tapping screws is carried out in a fairly short time, using a hand or electric drill at low speeds. It is best to use grade C1022 as a raw material, which is made of carbon steel, has sufficient strength and an anti-corrosion zinc coating, 12.5 microns thick. Experts advise using special rubber gaskets under their heads when installing self-tapping screws. This will prevent moisture from penetrating into the installation areas. In order to correctly install the professional material, the fasteners must be screwed in strictly perpendicularly, avoiding their distortions.
Installation of a fence made of corrugated sheets can also be carried out using self-tapping screws with a press washer. They hermetically press the profiled sheet to the frame, thanks to the special design of their heads.
  1. Installation using special rivets occurs when it is impossible to secure the screws from the outside. It is important to take into account that for such purposes, construction stores sell special rivets for corrugated sheets. The use of other types may shorten the life of the fence due to inconsistency with the material. Depending on the thickness of the sheet, the diameter of the rivets can range from 3.2 to 6.5 mm. In terms of quality and appearance, rivets are made of aluminum or galvanized steel in a variety of colors. Therefore, so that the attachment points do not stand out, it would be logical to purchase parts whose cap color matches the color of the fence. To secure them, you need to use a construction hand gun in your work. Please note: the fastening pitch must be at least 30 cm along the edge of the corrugation and 50 cm in the middle of the sheet.
To correctly calculate the number of fasteners, it is necessary to take into account that there are an average of 8 rivets per meter of fastening the covering.

In order not to make unnecessary holes and not miss the metal frame, a nylon cord should be pulled between the outer fasteners of the profiled sheet along its entire length. In this case, the screws and rivets will be lined up in an even row along a beautiful horizontal line.

Currently, corrugated fences are becoming increasingly popular due to their strength, wear resistance, aesthetics and relative cheapness of the building material. In addition, its installation is not difficult. The main thing is to have the necessary construction equipment in your arsenal. That’s probably all you need to build a reliable and economical fence with your own hands.
