For more than 1,500 years, the plant has been cultivated, captivating with its unpretentiousness, attracting wealth and prosperity.

Merchants of the Middle East called Crassula the money tree, because its leaves resemble silver dinars.

The common name is jadeite or jade plant. Jewelry symbolizes wealth and power and gives youth to its owners.

Cultivation in Europe dates back to the inclusion of Crassula in horticultural reference books in 1687. Already in the 19th century, the widespread distribution of the flower began; sprouts were transported from South Africa along with other tropical species.

Thanks to the breeding of many hybrid varieties, more than 200 species of Crassula are known. Among them there are tiny plants, blooming with bright inflorescences, and striking with the pearlescent shade of leaf plates.

Let's draw conclusions

A money tree will become a talisman of financial profit in your home if you follow simple care rules, replant, water and feed on time. Crassula will smooth out family conflicts and become a guarantee of growing prosperity if you decorate it with banknotes, coins and scarlet ribbons.

The fat woman will turn into a home healer, becoming the first aid for joint pain and viral diseases.

Still, it’s worth remembering that the fat woman is a talisman. But no talismans will bring you money if you don’t make any effort.

There are plants in almost every home. They make it more comfortable and perform a decorative function. In addition, plants have their own energy, which can affect the human condition. For example, it is believed that some indoor flowers can attract wealth, love or prosperity. These are the properties that the money tree has. But not every representative of the flora can be grown at home. For this reason, many plant lovers are interested in the question: can a money tree be kept at home?

Can I keep it at home?

Popularly, the fat plant is called the money tree. This is due to the common signs that the plant has acquired:

  • Finding a flower at home attracts material well-being;
  • If every Wednesday you tell the tree about the expenses made and the amounts earned, it will help increase the latter and implement all plans. In addition, the tree will help avoid unnecessary purchases;
  • Lush and thick foliage is a sign of positive energy in the house. In such an environment there will always be money present;
  • The fall of a large number of leaves indicates possible material expenses that will be unplanned. Since ancient times, it was believed that the fall of leaves from a fat plant warns of the loss of money;
  • For good plant growth and improved financial situation, it is recommended to bury 3 coins in a pot of soil. According to signs, such an action will not allow the wallet to become empty;

Crassula - a symbol of material well-being

  • Some people believe that you can achieve material well-being by hanging banknotes on the branches of a money tree. From time to time, banknotes need to be replaced with new ones. Those that were hanging are spent on personal needs; there is no need to store them. This is a kind of launch of the money cycle;
  • The tree needs to be replanted as necessary. As a rule, this is done once a year. To prevent material well-being from deteriorating, during this period the plant needs additional care. It should not wither; a new pot is selected that is more spacious than the previous one;
  • When one of the household becomes ill, the plant accumulates negativity and begins to wither. After recovery, the representative of the flora regains its original appearance.

There are many folk signs associated with the money tree.

The tree also has other advantages: the presence of bactericidal properties, the absence of allergic compounds in the air. Few people know that Crassula is used in folk medicine. But its dosage should be minimal, since the tree contains poison. The leaves are used to treat skin diseases, rashes, and sore throats. For this, special decoctions are prepared. The juice of the plant helps get rid of bruises and stretch marks.

Important! Crassula leaf is an excellent emergency aid for a bee sting. The leaf is cut and applied to the wound.

Caring for a money tree is not an easy task, especially if the plant is withering.

Harm of Crassula

Some people believe that you can’t keep a money tree at home. The main reason is again superstition:

  • The death of a plant indicates financial collapse. It is worth taking into account that it may be a warning, but not the cause of this event;
  • According to Feng Shui, the tree carries the energy of “yin” (it is a female plant). If most of the plants are succulents, then an excess of female energy is formed. This can lead to deterioration in mood, apathy, reluctance to do anything, and pessimism. It’s not difficult to correct the situation: you need to add a flower with male energy (“yang”).

If the succulent withers, you can expect financial collapse

Important! The female plant has rounded flowers and leaves, and creeping shoots. Male - has spines, pointed leaves and flowers.

Of the objective reasons why you can’t keep a money tree at home, there is only one - the leaves contain arsenic. The substance is poisonous, but poisoning can only occur if the leaves are eaten. To avoid unpleasant consequences, the plant should not be accessible to curious animals and small children.

Money tree poison

The tree contains arsenic. Despite the small dosage, special care should be taken if there are children in the house. Poison is dangerous for them in any quantity. An eaten leaf can cause not only diarrhea and vomiting, but also a severe allergic reaction. In some cases, loss of consciousness may occur. Preventing a problem is easier than fixing it. When children appear, the tree is removed out of reach or disposed of.

The money tree will contain poison, it is better to hide it from small children

Where should the flower be?

  • The room should not be cold or hot, and there should be no large amounts of dust. If you place an indoor tree at random, it may wither. It is worth remembering that the money tree is not a weed;
  • The flower does not tolerate sudden changes in temperature and drafts. For this reason, it should be in a ventilated room where the temperature will range from 19 to 24 degrees;
  • Dry air is not suitable for this flora, so places near a radiator or fireplace are also not suitable. High humidity allows the plant to direct energy into the house. Great place - next to the aquarium. Continuous evaporation will create an optimal environment. Another suitable place is the bathroom. There shouldn't be any problems with it. Leaking pipes will cause money to leak out of the house;
  • The area responsible for attracting material well-being is determined in the room. To do this, you can use the Bagua grid. The room is conventionally divided into 9 parts. In the lower right corner there will be a prosperous area. As a rule, this is the southeast zone of the room.

Important! The shade of the walls also matters. It shouldn't be red. It is worth giving preference to green, purple, lilac color shades.

Money tree in the bedroom

To get the most benefits from your money tree, you need to choose the right location. The apartment (or house) should have a lot of warmth and light, but direct sunlight should be avoided, especially in summer. Hot summer air will ruin the plant.

Putting a tree in the bedroom is a good idea. The plant will absorb bad odors and purify the air. For this reason, the Crassula succulent is often called a filter tree. When placing a tree in the bedroom, it is worth remembering the amount of light. If there is a lot of shadow in this room, it is better to place the flower pot in another place.

The best place for a fat woman is a lighted and ventilated bedroom.

Is it possible to give/throw away the fat plant?

Moving, the need to change the environment and other reasons may make it necessary to throw away the money tree. People who believe in omens are of the opinion that this should not be done to a fat woman.

If a plant lived in a house for a long time and brought joy, it accumulated excess energy for each family member. It is forbidden to simply throw it away; it is necessary to return the flower to nature, for example, take it outside and bury it in the ground.

When a Crassula flower has a bad trunk, throw it away and keep the sprout.

To prevent the tree from attracting trouble and lack of money, you need to get rid of it correctly:

  • leave it at the entrance;
  • throw the old flower in the trash, leaving one shoot for yourself;
  • give the fat girl to the person who wants to care for her.

Before any of the above actions, you should mentally thank the flower for the time spent in the house. It doesn’t matter how long the plant has been in the family. Only after such a ritual can it be thrown away.

Do they give a tree from home?

A fat woman grown according to all the rules promises the owner wealth and prosperity. It is for this reason that the plant will be an excellent gift for any occasion.

Important! For a succulent to produce wealth, it must be grown on its own. A purchased plant will not bring positive energy into the house.

Several signs will help you understand the meaning of such a gift:

  • A small fat woman will guarantee a small but stable increase in the income of the person to whom the gift is presented;
  • Receiving a diseased tree as a gift is a sign that a person or family has envious people and ill-wishers. They show negative emotions regarding material well-being. You should distance yourself from such acquaintances. Despite the negativity, it is worth making an effort to cure the plant. If you manage to do this, it means that there will be money in the house, despite the envy and intrigues of your friends.

Crassula - a great birthday gift

What does a succulent bring to your home?

The money tree brings financial and spiritual well-being to the home. It takes away diseases from people and is used to prepare decoctions. It is worth highlighting a few more signs associated with the plant:

  • When purchasing or gifting a large money tree, you should not immediately expect to make a financial profit;
  • If the tree fell from its place, but the leaves did not fall off, it means that income will soon increase. If, when falling, the earth from the pot scattered, and the pot itself broke, one should expect a loss of well-being;
  • If a flower gets a disease, it must be restored as soon as possible. If this is not done, financial problems may arise;
  • Dust should not accumulate on the leaves for a long time. It takes away positive energy.

Important! Flowering in Crassula occurs very rarely. If inflorescences appear, it is worth making a wish related to financial means. Many believe that it can be fulfilled in a short time.

Why is the Crassula called the money tree?

Crassula has been called the money tree for many years. A houseplant has long been considered a talisman that attracts wealth and prosperity to the family. The thing is that the representative of the flora has dense round leaves that look like coins (silver dinars).

In different countries, the tree can be called differently: the tree of happiness, the African monkey breadfruit tree, the tree with silver dollars.

Feng Shui also recognizes that the money tree attracts financial well-being. But this fact is explained a little differently. It is believed that the leaves accumulate energy, which can be used to attract wealth. Some conditions must be met:

  • quality care;
  • belief in the plant’s ability to attract material well-being;
  • the location of the flower is in the south-eastern part of the home.

Crassula leaves are shaped like coins

There is one more point - you should launch “plant magic”. To do this, perform several steps:

  1. Banknotes are hung on branches, and coins are buried in the ground.
  2. They tell the plant about their financial successes, while stroking the leaves.

The largest money tree

The Crassula reaches the size of a real tree only in its natural habitat, in its homeland (South Africa, Arabia, Madagascar). You won't be able to get a tall plant at home. There are specimens around the world that reach heights from 1 to 1.5 meters. But achieving such a result is very difficult; it will take at least 20 years.

A money tree can become a talisman to attract prosperity, but only if it is properly cared for: watered, fertilized and replanted regularly. Crassula can become a family healer, relieve sore throats and joint pain. You can give it away by thanking for the time spent in the family.

The Crassula plant, which is also called the “money tree,” is a real green talisman that is grown to improve one’s wealth and well-being. It is noteworthy that for several centuries Crassula (or Crassula) has been considered a natural symbol of wealth in many countries.

Description of the plant

Under natural conditions, this plant from the Crassula family grows in Africa. It is believed that the plant received the name “money tree” due to the fact that its leaves resemble coins in their shape, although this is not the only assumption about the origin of the name.

Crassula has an amazing property that many owners of this plant are not even aware of - the plant can bloom if you provide it with proper care at home. However, sometimes even with proper care the plant does not bloom, but this in no way detracts from its decorative qualities. Perhaps, as with aloe, it is a matter of luck.

Location

Crassula (money tree) requires certain conditions. Home care begins with choosing the right location. The plant needs good lighting, but do not place pots on windows that receive direct sunlight. If, however, the plant is located on such windows, then in the summer, protect it from the scorching sun.

With proper care, the plant can grow tall. For this reason, many people make the mistake of planting it in a large pot and letting it grow. The fact is that in a large flowerpot the plant begins to stretch out greatly and grows unevenly, which is why it begins to look more like a bush than a tree. That is why it is recommended to plant it in a shallow flowerpot - this will make it easier for you to form a tree.

It is important not to let the plant grow. Due to uncontrolled growth, the plant develops unevenly - some shoots actively stretch, others do not grow at all, which is why the tree can become crooked.

Therefore, the growth of the Crassula should be carefully monitored and helped to form correctly. To ensure that the indoor plant branches evenly, the crown should be pinched. Pinch off several small leaves from the ends of the shoot, and then branching will begin in this place.

Crassula (money tree) does not like heavy soil. The plant prefers to grow in loose and nutritious soil. For these purposes, you can choose a substrate intended for cacti, since it is more suitable for Crassula.

The soil for growing should contain sand. Thus, the optimal soil composition is turf soil, sand, leaf soil (ratio 1: 1: 3, respectively).

Crassula does not like acidic soil, so you can add a little ash and clay - they neutralize the acidity.

Crassula (money tree) loves fertilizer, so care at home should include fertilizing, but not too much. It can be fertilized with mixtures for cacti. They feed it only in summer; in winter it does not require additional nutrition.

It is not advisable to over-water the fat plant. Since it is a succulent, the money tree is able to accumulate excess moisture in the trunk and in the fleshy leaves. Thus, it is able to do without moisture for a long time.

It is not advisable for the roots and soil to dry out, and therefore it needs to be watered once a week, in extreme heat - twice a week. However, excessive watering is also harmful. Due to abundant and frequent watering, the water will stagnate, which is why the roots of the plant may begin to rot. Gray rot may also appear because of this.

If you notice that the “money tree” has begun to shed its leaves, then this may also be due to excessive watering. The same thing is indicated by the appearance of brown spots on the leaves. The conclusion is this: water the plant moderately, and after watering, drain off the excess moisture.

The nuances of winter watering should also be taken into account. Due to low temperatures, watering can lead to root rot, so in winter the plant should be watered once every two weeks.

As for air humidity, the “money tree” is a rather unpretentious plant, so it does not require special conditions.

Reproduction and transplantation

Crassula does not need frequent transplants. It is advisable to replant when the bush grows significantly. It is optimal to replant once every 3 years, except for young crassulas that have acquired a lush crown and the pot can no longer support the plant.

It is propagated by tree cuttings or leaves. But it often happens that the plant itself carries out the propagation procedure when a leaf that has fallen into a pot takes root. You may find that you already have several plants growing in one pot.

However, it is better to control this process. To propagate, you need to remove the leaf, leave it in the shade for 2-3 hours, then plant it in the ground, slightly pressing it. There is no need to dig it in.

The easiest way to propagate is from a cutting, for which it is placed in a glass of water, and when it produces roots, it is planted in the ground.

Diseases and pests

As for diseases and pests, the most dangerous for this indoor plant are mealybugs, spider mites and scale insects. When affected by mites and scale insects, the plant must be treated with a soap solution and Fitoverm or Funanon. If the Crassula has been damaged by a mealybug, then insecticides should be used to get rid of it.

One of the popular indoor flowers is Crassula. Otherwise it is called the money tree. The fat woman is credited with special magical properties, thanks to which money comes into the house. It is a tree that serves as an excellent interior decoration and does not require much attention to care.

What's happened?

At its core, the fat plant is a succulent, that is, a plant that can survive in dry areas due to the large supply of liquid in the leaves. The thick leaves of the tree actually contain a decent supply of water. Scientifically, this flower is called Crassula, which means “thick” in Latin.

The indoor plant acquired the name “money tree” because of the shape of the leaves of some of its varieties, which resemble coins.

Description

The genus classula includes succulents that grow mostly in the Southern Hemisphere. The African continent is considered the birthplace of the money tree. It also lives in Madagascar. Since such plants are interesting in appearance, they are often bred in homes in regions very far from hot Africa.

In total, there are about 350 varieties of such trees in the Crassulaceae family. Some of them are plants 5 centimeters high, while others can be half a meter or 3 meters high.

It is difficult to keep a large fat woman in an apartment.

Some varieties are creeping and even aquatic plants. What all varieties have in common is the juiciness and impressive thickness of the leaves. Their forms vary greatly depending on the variety. Leaves can be:

  • oval;
  • in the form of a cylinder;
  • rhombus;
  • elongated - lancet-like.

Crassula, which most often “settles” in apartments and offices, looks like a tree with a thick trunk. The older it is, the thicker the trunk. In appearance, it can be woody or fleshy with a layer of waxy coating.

Crassula leaves also vary in color. In some plants they are bright green, in others they have a silvery or bluish tint, and in others they are yellowish or even with spots.

Many people strive to grow a money tree precisely because of the magical properties attributed to it. But it also has quite tangible therapeutic effects:

  • the plant improves air quality;
  • removes stress and tension;
  • Crassula juice has anti-inflammatory properties;
  • fresh Crassula pulp relieves itching and kills fungus;
  • the substances included in its composition resist viruses;
  • Crassula-based products treat diseases of the intestines and oral cavity.

Please note that the money tree is poisonous. It contains arsenic, although in small quantities. The presence of such a substance helps fight arthrosis and arthritis if used as an external remedy.

When ingested, caution must be exercised. Before using Crassula, for example, to treat stomach ulcers, kidney disease, or regulate metabolism, it is better to first consult a doctor.

To avoid trouble, it is advisable to place the money tree in a place where small children cannot reach it.

Bloom

Seeing a Crassula flower is not so easy. Many people generally believe that it does not bloom. And this is not surprising. For many fat women, the first buds appear only in the tenth year of life. And this is in their usual habitat. Some “pets” are pleased with flowers for the first time even in their twentieth year, and only if they are properly cared for.

The flowers are white, yellowish or pinkish in appearance. Although there are varieties of Crassula with red flowers. They look like stars with 5 petals connected in small “clusters”.

In its natural environment, Crassula blooms in the spring, when the growing season begins. At home, it can surprise you with flowers even in winter, and in the spring months such a miracle happens even less often.

Panicles with flowers appear on young shoots. Flowering can last 3 months. The cooler the room, the longer the fat woman delights with such beauty.

If the money tree has bloomed, one can hope that this will repeat every year, but there are also breaks of 5 years.

Kinds

Among the most popular types of Crassula are oval. There are a large number of varieties of this Crassula. The leaves are approximately 6 centimeters long and half as wide. They do not have a petiole and are attached to the stem directly by the plate itself. It is no coincidence that such leaves are called sessile.

They can be a rich green shade or with a silvery tint. A red border is visible along the edge. Oval Crassula blooms with pink or white flowers. The advantage of a houseplant is that it does not require much attention and care.

Krasulla arborescens is a tree reaching 1.5 meters in height. The leaves are grayish in appearance, with a reddish frame. The leaf length is about 9 centimeters, and the width is about 4. It blooms with white flowers, gradually acquiring a pink tint. It does best in light from windows facing both west and east.

The so-called Schmidt's Crassula leaves are lanceolate, pointed at the ends. On the upper side they are green and silver, and on the reverse side they are red. This bush blooms with red flowers. Often this variety of Crassula is grown in European countries as an annual plant, with new bushes planted in the next season after flowering.

Crasulla lycophytes has fleshy, narrow and pointed leaves, resembling scales in their arrangement on the base. Its flowers are yellow, but it is valued for the original appearance of its branches, which, when grown, hang down from the pot.

The plant reaches a height of 25 centimeters. It can be grown in the same pot with other succulents, for which it provides a pleasant background. This fat woman is unpretentious in care and reproduces easily. Lives for more than 10 years.

Krasulla rocky is a creeping plant. It reaches a height of no more than 50 centimeters. It has rather thin stems and small thick leaves with a red border. The flowers are pinkish or yellowish.

Spot- is a bush with leaves clinging to the stems, and also shaped like an egg with points at the top. The color of the leaves is greenish with a silver tint and dark spots on the surface. The plant blooms with white flowers.

The purslane crassula is very beautiful. It has bright, glossy green ellipse-shaped leaves that are thick in the middle and thinner at the edges. Crassula shoots thicken as they develop and take on a woody appearance. The tree bark becomes wrinkled. It reaches a height of two meters.

Cooper's Crassula has interesting shoots. The lower part of them grows vertically, and the tops bend down and, as they grow, are more and more pressed to the ground. This Crassula leaves have an elongated shape and are covered with red specks. This flower looks elegant.

Planting and transplanting

Crassula can be planted in different ways. Flower growers “extract” a new plant from a seed. The step-by-step process looks like this:

  • take a small, wide-diameter pot with a hole in the bottom;
  • wash and disinfect;
  • fill with a mixture of leaf soil and sand so that one part of the earth accounts for half of the sand;
  • place the seeds on the ground and sprinkle with sand to prevent the top layer of soil from drying out;
  • water and cover with a glass container - this way you can keep the high humidity under the hood;
  • ventilate and moisten the top layer of soil every day (it should not be wet, only damp);
  • With good developments, sprouts should appear in about 2 weeks;
  • plant the strongest seedlings in a container with a mixture of leaf and turf soil, as well as sand (one part of the leaf soil should have half of the turf and sand);
  • moisten the soil in new containers with seedlings and place them in a place that is well lit, but there is no direct sun;
  • when the sprouts rise by 5 centimeters, distribute them among “permanent apartments”;
  • When rooting, maintain the air temperature no higher than +18 degrees and no lower than +15.

In addition to the fact that the plant needs to be planted, after a certain time it requires replanting. If several shoots of Crassula grew in one pot, they need to be planted.

The need for replanting depends on the growth of the tree. If the bush grows too tall, the “apartment” becomes not enough for it. There are times when a disproportionately large tree located in a small container overturns.

For a large “tenant” you need a large pot that can hold a lot of soil. However, it should not be particularly deep, since the roots of the fat plant are not too long.

Young seedlings are transplanted into a new, wider pot within six months after purchasing from a flower shop. The plant is taken out from the old place directly with a lump of earth and placed in a container filled with fresh soil. When replanting, care must be taken to ensure that the soil layer remains at the same level. This way the root collar of the plant will not be damaged.

After transshipment, the money tree cannot be watered for 2 weeks, only moisten the top layer of soil. At this time, the plant should be kept in partial shade. It is recommended to engage in “rehousing” of the fat woman in the spring.

From time to time, the soil in the Crassula roots has to be changed entirely, since the soil becomes unsuitable for maintaining normal growth. There is nothing else left to do here but to take the risk of clearing the “underground part” of the tree from the earth. After examining the roots, some of them may need to be trimmed. Treat the sections with activated carbon, and then place the fat plant in fresh soil.

Water the crassula and place it in a cool room for a couple of weeks.

How to care?

You need to care for the fat plant, like any plant in your apartment, wisely. In the summer, it is best to place the pot in a window where there is light in the morning. This will prevent the tree from being exposed to direct sunlight during the day. With this approach, there is no risk of getting fried. At the same time, the plant will not suffer from a lack of light. In winter, it is more profitable to allocate a place for Crassula near a window facing south.

If there are windows only to the north or west, additional lighting will be required.

When a money tree doesn't get enough light, its leaves become smaller and its branches become longer and thinner. The appearance of the fat woman becomes unattractive. In the most advanced cases, the plant wilts and takes on a painful appearance.

Since it is a succulent, there is no need to spray it with water day after day. But you need to systematically remove dust from the leaves.

The tree needs fresh air. However, when ventilating, do not create strong drafts. This is harmful to the plant at home.

The suitable temperature for a money tree during the active period of life is +18.25 degrees. In the fall, when the fat woman is preparing for the dormant season, these indicators need to be gradually reduced. It is better for it to overwinter at +10.15 degrees, but the plant should not be overcooled.

If it is not possible to create “weather” suitable for winter, you can at least move the bush away from the heating radiator and place it closer to the window glass.

In the case of Crassula, you should not worry about the air in the house being too dry in winter. For the typical arid environment dweller this is not a problem.

Caring for it requires feeding and working with the crown. It also needs to be watered properly.

Watering

Succulents have their own requirements for the amount of moisture. In order not to ruin the money tree, you do not need to water it heavily. In addition, it is no coincidence that when planting such plants, drainage is arranged at the bottom, and pots with holes in the bottom are selected.

Do not water the fat plant with tap water. If you can’t get it anywhere except from the water supply, the liquid needs to settle before watering.

To avoid any questions about whether it is time to water, it is advisable to make sure that the soil is dry at a depth of 4 centimeters. The fact is that on the surface the soil dries out quickly, but inside there is still enough moisture for the money tree.

Top dressing

Crassula belongs to the category of unpretentious plants in terms of soil composition. Therefore, there is no need to feed it often. During the growing season, the soil is supplied with fertilizers no more than once a month. In winter this is not required at all.

Fertilizers should be applied after watering to avoid burning the roots. You can use special compounds for cacti, or add standard minerals and organic substances one by one.

For normal development of the money tree, potassium is needed. If there is not enough of it, yellow spots appear on the leaves. However, when applying fertilizers, you should remember that if there is too much of this substance, the root system of the fat plant may collapse.

Fresh shoots on the tree appear due to phosphorus. If there is a deficiency of this substance, the foliage on the fat plant darkens.

The plant also needs nitrogen fertilizers, without a sufficient amount of which the development of Crassula does not proceed properly. However, excess nitrogen does not bring anything good to it.

Calcium determines how well the trunk is developed and whether the amount of liquid in the leaves is correct. Calcium can be applied to the soil like a regular fertilizer. Some people make infusions on eggshells and moisten the soil under the crassula with this liquid. You can also grind the washed and dried shells and add them to the pot with the plant.

If the fat plant has been transplanted or is sick, there is no need to feed it. Because of this, Crassula will most likely die.

Crown formation

In order for the Crassula to look like a real tree, its crown needs to be dealt with systematically, starting “from an early age” (with the exception of the tree-like tree, in which the correct contour is formed on its own).

On a small bush you need to remove all the side shoots until it reaches a certain height. This way, half of the trunk will be bare, like a real tree.

When the desired height is reached, the topmost shoot is pinched. This allows the lateral buds to become active. Shoots from them will form a crown, like a tree. In order for the “cap” of leaves to grow evenly, the Crassula needs to be turned to the window from time to time, first on one side, then on the other.

When the fourth pairs of leaves form on the side branches, the upper buds need to be removed. This will allow the crown to acquire new branches, which will make it even richer.

The longest branches need to be trimmed so that they do not weaken and shade others. Although it is better to do the pinching in time. Then you won't have to cut to the living.

If the formed branch had to be shortened, the cut should be sprinkled with activated carbon.

Reproduction

Many people believe that the easiest way to propagate Crassula is using cuttings. If there is a large tree that is at least three years old, from which a shoot can be separated without harming the adult plant, this is a suitable case for introducing a “new tenant” into the house.

You need to choose a strong shoot that has reached a length of 10 centimeters. Experts advise treating the cutting in the part that goes into the ground with a solution of “Kornevin” and succinic acid. Both substances are growth stimulants. Pour a glass of hot water into a tablet of succinic acid, and when it cools down, add “Kornevin” (a pinch) to it. Mix everything well. The resulting mixture is treated with the cuttings.

To make the procedure easier, first moisten a cotton pad in the liquid, and then moisten part of the appendage with this disc.

To properly plant a cutting in the ground and achieve its rooting, you need to prepare:

  • knife (disinfected);
  • activated carbon (as an antiseptic);
  • soil for plants such as cacti, mixed with sand at the rate of 2 parts earth, part sand;
  • separately coarse sand;
  • a small pot or plastic glass;
  • small expanded clay stones;
  • solution that stimulates rooting.

The procedure for propagating Crassula from cuttings is as follows:

  • Carefully cut off the selected shoot with a knife;
  • treat the cut with activated carbon and leave to dry for several hours;
  • pour drainage into the bottom of the planting container;
  • above - earth mixed with sand;
  • moisten the soil with rooting liquid;
  • treat the cuttings with the same solution;
  • plant it at a depth of 4 centimeters;
  • sprinkle the ground with sand so that the moisture does not evaporate;
  • remove the pot to a cool, shaded place.

If you don’t have a cutting, you can propagate the fat plant using a leaf. You need to choose a healthy and strong “biomaterial”. A leaf separated from an adult tree is left to dry for 24 hours, pre-treated with an antiseptic, and planted in a mixture of earth and sand, mixed in the same proportion as for propagation by cuttings.

You can choose a very small pot for the leaf. When planting, the soil should be sprinkled not with sand, but with charcoal.

It is not recommended to bury the leaf too deeply into the ground. You need to plant it slightly tilted so that it does not interfere with the development of a new shoot. After planting, the soil should be moistened on the surface, and the same should be done with the layer of coal.

Place the pot with the future money tree in a sunny place, but so that it is not exposed to direct sunlight. The leaf requires almost no care. All you need to do is monitor the condition of the soil and slightly moisten the soil around the “young resident”. When a small sprout sprouts from the ground, it means the rooting was successful.

Diseases and pests

This is not to say that the money tree causes a lot of trouble in terms of combating diseases inherent in plants. But he also has troubles.

An insect called a mealybug infects the fat plant with a white coating that appears in the leaf axils. Under the influence of this, the shoots become bent and the leaves fall off. You can defeat such an infection with a strong solution of laundry soap or insecticides.

If cobwebs appear on the stems and leaves of the Crassula, it means that it was attacked by a spider mite. You can fight it with the same soap solution, as well as infusions of garlic or tobacco.

Another harmful insect that can appear on a money tree is the scale insect. As a result of its “work”, brown or yellow spots appear on the leaves. You have to fight the uninvited guest with the help of products such as Fufanon, Fitoverm or soap solution.

Problems with the money tree arise not only from pests, but also as a result of improper handling:

  • if the root or base of the stem of the Crassula rotted, it was watered often, and there was too much moisture in the ground;
  • if the leaves wither, on the contrary, there is not enough liquid;
  • if the foliage began to fall off, it was watered with cold water, or it was exposed to a strong draft, although the lack of fresh air leads to such manifestations;
  • if black spots appeared on the leaves, the Crassula was burned by the sun.

In order for the plant to recover, it needs to return comfortable living conditions, remove damaged branches and leaves. In case of a burn, move it to another place or create a shadow on the previous one.

If rot forms on the roots, the money tree will have to be removed from the pot, all damaged areas removed, the cut areas treated with an antiseptic, and then placed in a container with fresh soil.

If all the roots are dead, there is still a chance to revive the fat plant. You need to cut off the top of it and plant it in the ground like a cutting.

Growing a money tree is actually not very difficult. And with systematic care, it will be able to delight with its beauty for years and be useful in the treatment of diseases of the owners of the apartment or house themselves, surely rewarding their care with flowers.

The money tree is one of the most popular talismans that help attract wealth. Surely many people have such a living talisman: a houseplant with fleshy leaves that somewhat resemble coins. This is a Crassulla, or Crasulla, as it is also called.

However, contrary to popular belief, it is not at all necessary to buy real fatty. To increase your income, you can also make a money tree with your own hands. Today we’ll talk about how to correctly use both versions of the amulet so that there is money in the house, how to activate it and care for it.

Where did the tree come from to attract money?

The history of the money tree began more than one and a half thousand years ago. The plant itself comes from Africa, but very quickly became famous in the East. It was the merchants of the Middle East who called Crassula the money tree, because its leaves are so similar to coins.

In Europe, crassula began to be used to attract money only in the 17th century. This is due to the inclusion of the plant in gardening reference books. The further spread of Crassula among the masses was facilitated by its magical property of attracting wealth.

Money tree: signs and superstitions

There are a lot of signs associated with this money talisman. A person who knows about all this folk wisdom will be able to understand at first glance what problems the talisman predicts and take timely measures to eliminate them.

Signs to pay attention to:

  • The plant's leaves are falling off or its trunk has begun to sag. It is likely that unplanned expenses will be expected soon.
  • Crassula fell from her usual place. Such an incident does not promise any misfortunes. A fall and a broken pot indicate that the family’s material well-being will become better. But this can lead to envious people, so be careful.
  • Crassula is blooming. This is definitely a good sign. The appearance of flowers indicates that the fat woman is happy in your home, which means she will soon thank you for your care.

Pay close attention to these signs. But don’t forget that you don’t have to wait until the plant blooms. You can strengthen the positive energy spread by Crassula yourself.

What is needed for this:

  • Every Wednesday, tell the tree about your financial achievements and expenses. This will help you avoid making purchases that you will later regret.
  • Decorate the branches with large denomination bills. Banknotes need to be replaced from time to time - this will start the money cycle.
  • Transplant the Crassula from a smaller pot to a larger one when it has outgrown the old pot. This action is believed to help expand the space needed for new money.

Is it possible to keep a Crassula at home?

For a money tree to bring wealth and prosperity, you need to plant it yourself.

Having first heard about such an unusual talisman, many are interested in whether it is possible to keep a money tree at home. Feng Shui experts say that it is not only possible, but necessary! A coin tree should be in every home whose inhabitants want to become rich.

Those who live in an apartment do not have to worry about not having enough free space. After all, for residential premises they use a decorative format of this plant - an oval or ovoid Crassula, popularly called Crassula because of its thick trunk.

Its height does not exceed one and a half meters. This means that with peace of mind you can place a pot with a tree in any room, without fear that it will turn into an impenetrable forest.

Experts say that this money amulet cannot be bought. To prevent it from losing its ability to attract money, you need to take a sprout from friends or relatives and grow the tree yourself.

Where should the money tree be?

Each talisman has its own characteristics and they must be taken into account when buying this or that amulet. Almost each of them is placed in a specially designated area - this is the only way they can attract positive vibrations, transmitting them to their owners.

But with the Feng Shui money tree, everything is a little more complicated. This is understandable, because this is a living talisman that requires much more care and attention than an ordinary figurine.

In order for the money tree to “bear fruit”, keep it in the right conditions.

The fat woman is not too capricious, but she requires care and suitable conditions:

  • The ideal temperature for a talisman tree is 20-25°.
  • Crassula not only does not like high temperatures and dryness, but also direct sunlight. Therefore, it can be placed on the windowsill only if it is not on the sunny side.
  • The tree needs fresh air, humidity and the absence of dust, but at the same time it is afraid of drafts and sudden temperature changes, so it is not advisable to place it below table level. Ventilate the room regularly, and in the warm season, additionally spray the topiary with water from a spray bottle.

These simple tips will help you find a good place in your home for a money tree. Something where he will feel comfortable and cozy. But Feng Shui teachings have their own rules regarding where to place the talisman.

How to place a talisman according to Feng Shui

According to Feng Shui, the money tree must be placed in a special area. It is located in the southeast. According to the Bagua grid, it is in this sector that the wealth zone is located - the most suitable place for topiary. But the best option is when you can combine the rules of caring for a tree and the rules of Feng Shui.

To find the wealth zone according to Bagua, determine where the north direction is, and then place a piece of paper with a printed or drawn polygon so that the career sector is in the north. If the money zone ends up in a completely inappropriate place for it, change your approach - instead of a plan for the entire apartment, use a plan for a separate room.

The money tree is a talisman for the whole family, so it is better to place it in the family room, and not in the bedroom or nursery.

How to plant a money tree to attract money

The skills acquired by growing indoor plants will, of course, be useful for planting a money tree. But since this tree is also a talisman against poverty, its owner must also remember the talismanic rules.

How to plant a money tree according to Feng Shui:

  • Pay attention to the pot. Ideally it should be red or green. Red will help activate the amulet and serve as a magnet for cash flow, and green in Feng Shui is considered the color of wealth, so it is ideal for the money tree.
  • Transplant the Crassula into a new, more spacious pot when the old one becomes too small for it. There is a superstition in this regard that if a tree does not have enough space in the pot, it will not be able to bring new money into the house of its owners, which is why their income will gradually decrease.
  • To quickly attract money, before filling the pot with soil, place a handful of coins of different denominations at the bottom.

When planting Crassula, choose a spacious pot of red or green colors.

According to Feng Shui, to activate talismans, you do not need to read any spells. It is enough to place them in a suitable Bagua sector and reinforce them with a certain color or energy. For example, they tie a red ribbon on it and sprinkle it with water.

But some experts believe that a reasonable combination of traditional Feng Shui orders and beliefs from other teachings or religions cannot lead to anything bad. Therefore, if you also think that a money spell will help you get rich faster, try a topiary spell.

To do this, use the following spell:

Talisman, talisman, bring me money, bring me so much that I can live without worries for a whole year.

You can also take this plot:

Grow, money tree, grow big and wide, bloom and bring money into our house in a stream.

Is it possible to give a money tree?

Crassula is allowed to be grown not only for oneself, but also for loved ones - relatives or friends. Crassula will be an excellent gift for weddings and birthdays, bringing a lot of joy to its owners.

But for this, one condition must be met - the talisman is given not purchased, but grown with your own hands. That is, you will have to borrow a sprout from someone and grow a full-fledged tree from it. You don't have to wait many years. Without a doubt, give a young tree as well. In this case, the amulet will serve as a source of small but stable income.

If you are planning a wedding gift, also pay attention to or. Both talismans are wonderful gifts for newlyweds.

If a money tree is given to you as a gift, it is best not to accept it if the plant looks sick. Such a gift signals that the person is jealous of your financial situation and wants you to go broke.

Is it possible to throw away the fat plant?

Everyone who has purchased a Crassula sooner or later is faced with the question of whether it is possible to throw away the money tree. Particularly impressionable individuals are so afraid of signs and superstitions that they refuse to throw away amulets when they become unusable, citing the fact that happiness will leave the house.

But a broken talisman will also not bring the expected benefits. The best thing to do in such a situation is to get rid of the amulet to prevent negative energy from spreading throughout the house.

But how do you know whether it’s worth saying goodbye to the fat woman or whether there’s still an opportunity to revive it? Experts do not give specific instructions on this matter, so you can only act at your own discretion. When a tree is sick, try to cure it. Find more detailed guides on caring for this plant or talk to fellow gardeners.

If you can see from the Crassula that it won’t last long, then you have several options:

  • completely get rid of the plant;
  • leave a sprout for yourself to grow a new tree;
  • give it to another person (but it is better not to do this for the reasons given in the previous paragraph).

Never throw the money tree in the trash or landfill. Mascots are not treated that way. If you don’t want to re-gift the plant or keep the sprout for yourself, just bury the fat plant in the ground away from the house.

How to make a wealth tree talisman yourself

You don’t have to grow a Chinese money tree yourself. It is clear that such a process will take a lot of effort and time, and not everyone has these resources. But, fortunately, there is an alternative option - making an amulet with your own hands.

The money tree talisman for wealth can be made from various materials, for example, from beads.

An artificial ornamental tree has a significant advantage over a living plant - it will never wither. And if it suddenly breaks, it won’t be such a shame to throw it away.

What are the types of money talismans:

  • beaded wood;
  • Crassula made of wire and coins or paper notes;
  • coin picture.

We invite you to take advantage of our master classes to make yourself such a talisman!

DIY money tree made from coins

Making a money tree is not as difficult as it might seem.

To make an amulet from coins, you will need:

  • foam;
  • scotch;
  • coins of different sizes;
  • glue for durable materials;
  • branch or small metal stick;
  • gold ribbon;
  • golden beads;
  • yellow rhinestones;
  • small flower pot;
  • decorative gold leaves;
  • alabaster;
  • sand;
  • water;
  • gold acrylic paint in aerosol form.

There are a lot of materials on the list, but despite this, coin topiary is made very quickly. Literally in an hour.

A topiary made from coins will serve as an original gift.

And now the master class itself:

  1. Roll a ball of foam rubber 8-10 cm in diameter, completely covering its surface with tape. This will help secure the ball shape.
  2. Using glue, attach the coins to the surface of the ball. Start from the top, working your way down in a circle. The round shape of the coins will not allow you to put them together into a whole picture without leaving gaps. Therefore, place the coins so that the edge of one overlaps the side of the other.
  3. Do not put the last coin on the bottom of the ball, leave a small space. At this point you need to pierce the ball and insert a stick or wire there.
  4. Coat the end of the stick with glue, and then insert it into the hole of the ball.
  5. Wrap the future trunk of the money tree with a gold ribbon, after lubricating the stick with glue. After this, you can use coins to cover the remaining space through which the color of the ball can be seen.
  6. Glue decorative leaves to the trunk, decorating them with beads and rhinestones.
  7. Now we prepare the pot. We cover it with paint and decorate it with leaves.
  8. Having mixed alabaster and sand with water, pour all this stuff into the pot and insert the stem. When the soil hardens, cover it with paint.
  9. Let's make a “collar” of ribbons. Cut even pieces of tape and fold them into droplets. Using a sharp corner, apply them to the coins near the barrel, securing them with glue. Make a collar in a circle.
  10. 10) The last stage is to cover all this beauty with varnish so that you can wipe the talisman from dust.

DIY money tree from banknotes

When making a money tree, use real banknotes, not souvenir ones.

When making a money tree, you can use other techniques. It is more complicated, but gives a more authentic result. In this version, the tree crown is made not from a ball, but from real branches. They are varnished, and real banknotes are hung around the edges, like fruits.

It is undesirable to use small bills, because then the talisman will attract only small amounts. It’s also not worth replacing real money with souvenir money, otherwise you won’t be able to activate money energy and start the money cycle.

We invite you to familiarize yourself with interesting options for making a money tree from banknotes.

Money Tree

The process of creating a New Year's tree from real paper money is quite simple and even small craftsmen can do it. The money tree will serve as an original gift for family and friends.

To make a Christmas tree you will need a foam cone, a small bucket for indoor plants and, of course, the treasured banknotes.

  1. We fold the paper bill like an accordion.
  2. We secure the center of the accordion with a hair bobby pin. You will get a kind of butterfly.
  3. Let's spread the wings of our money butterfly.
  4. All that remains is to fix the paper moth on the tree trunk by sticking the invisible one into the green cone.
  5. We create a lush Christmas tree from banknotes. We decorate the top of the green beauty with a star.

Tree made from banknotes

The algorithm for creating such a money tree is also very simple and absolutely anyone can handle it.

To make a paper money tree you will need:

  • small flowerpot;
  • wooden stick for the trunk;
  • foam ball;
  • children's polymer clay.

  1. We string the ball onto a wooden stick;
  2. Fill the bucket halfway with polymer clay;
  3. We form a bow from a banknote;
  4. Using a hairpin, attach the bow to the foam ball;
  5. We proceed in the same way with the remaining bills, forming a tree with lush “foliage”.

We decorate the trunk with a decorative ribbon.

Money tree panel

If you have absolutely nowhere to put a decorative topiary, try making a picture out of coins. Making such a talisman will take much less time, and there will always be a place for it. And in order not to drill a hole in the wall, just place a miniature panel on a table or bookshelf.

Materials for painting:

  • picture frame (A4);
  • embossed paper for background;
  • glue for durable materials;
  • gold-colored pearlescent acrylic paint (aerosol);
  • pearlescent acrylic paint in cherry shade;
  • scissors;
  • brush;
  • fixing varnish (transparent);
  • coins of different sizes
  • oilcloth;
  • twine.

The color of the paper can be any, but it is better if it is in harmony with the golden tone with which you will cover the coins. If the shade you need is not available, take the one you have and cover it with a suitable color using acrylic paint.

Check if you have taken all the materials and tune in to a positive mood. When making an amulet, it is important to think about good things so that it charges your mood.

Step-by-step instruction:

  1. The first step is to paint the materials. Spread the oilcloth, placing coins, pebbles and a bunch of threads of the required length and thickness on it. The threads will have to be coated with paint on all sides, but it is enough to paint the coins on one side.
  2. While the details of the future panel are drying, you can work on the background. Remove the base from the frame and glue the paper prepared for the background to it. Smooth out all the folds, and then place a heavy book on top so that the paper sticks evenly.
  3. If you are not going to paint the background, feel free to skip this step. If you couldn’t find paper of the right color, take paint of a suitable color and paint the background. A silver or cherry tone would look good with the golden hue of the money tree.
  4. When all the materials are dry, you can glue them to the background. Arrange the threads so that the crown looks evenly - like that of. Glue coins to the ends of the branches.
  5. Now again we wait until everything dries, and then we cover the picture with colorless varnish. You should not skip the fixing stage, because without an additional protective coating, the painting may deteriorate when wiping the dust with a damp cloth.
  6. We frame the completely finished panel and place it in the wealth zone.

Before placing the money amulet in the southeast zone, activate it. Talk to the talisman, asking for a good income or read the corresponding plot.
