Aviary for Alabai and how we make it. Do-it-yourself enclosure for an Alabai Aviary for a Central Asian Shepherd dog dimensions

The dog is valued by people because it has many qualities: in addition to loyalty, it is an excellent guard and watchdog, an excellent bloodhound, a good hunting friend, and a caring nanny. In addition to this, today these four-legged friends perform the role of rescuers and orderlies, are used as sappers and saboteurs, but, above all, most of us associate them with a cute and funny pet.

If you are planning, then you need to make sure that all her needs are taken into account, at least so that you can, for the sake of sincere friendship, arrange for her a comfortable place to rest or spend the night. Keep in mind that if you provide your pet with a home that suits his tastes and needs, the dog will do his job well.

Four main ways to buy a dog house in Kyiv

Booth and kennel

Those who think wrongly identifies the booth and the kennel. The difference between them is directly related to the natural habits of dogs. And what you can be sure of is that Australian dingoes are wild descendants of dogs that were domesticated by humans centuries later.

Returning to the booth and kennel, It should be noted that each of them has its own characteristics. This, in turn, determines the division of these structures into subtypes. The breed, gender, origin of the dog, as well as the location of the booth or kennel on the site, as well as the climate characteristics of the area, are of decisive importance here. In order for the doghouse to be built according to all the rules, it is necessary to take into account each of the above factors when constructing this structure.

General information

Choosing a place for the booth, you need to make sure it is in the shade: Our four-legged friends sweat little, and in order to lower their body temperature, they begin to breathe heavily, sticking their tongue out. If you do not have the opportunity to find a shady place to install a booth there, then take care to build a canopy over the entrance and a threshold to protect the dog’s paws from contact with the hot ground.

If the booth is intended for a small breed pet, you need to widen the threshold as much as possible so that your pet can jump to the ground and completely crawl out of its home. There is no need to spend time and effort on making a ramp, since this structure will not allow your four-legged friend to lie comfortably.

If the kennel is being built for a girl, then you need to make sure there is a special litter for the brood. In addition, near the manhole you need to install a stationary feeder with a drinking bowl. This will provide a number of advantages:

  • When the puppies begin to eat, their mother will be able to watch them;
  • This will avoid excessive scattering of food, so this solution will be relevant until the puppies learn to eat carefully.

In areas with heavy rainfall It is recommended to build a kennel for a dog of the dense canine breed so that it has elements such as a canopy and a threshold, which together form a full-fledged veranda. It should be borne in mind that the condition of these animals is extremely negatively affected by wet fur. Thick canine dogs got their name because of their coat with a thick soft underfur and a soft awn, which is not too much longer than the underfur.

Often owners decide to build a dog house, which serves as a temporary home. Let's say, if the owner moves to the country, he arranges a pen for his pet. In such a case, it is necessary for the booth to add not only a canvas curtain, but also a lockable door so that random debris does not get into it or unwanted settlers take over it.

Place

Choosing various design options for, you must first take into account the place that you will allocate for it on the site. If the local area is often flooded during rainfall, then it is quite logical to place the booth on a hill. It seems advisable to decide to allocate a place for the booth that is at a sufficient distance from the barnyard, poultry house, dovecote and other objects where domestic animals are kept.

Rules for choosing a place

Should make sure there is a good view from the booth. To avoid having to subsequently waste time and money on setting up a booth in a new location, it is recommended to take into account the following criteria when choosing a location.

It is ideal when the dog can observe from his booth the entrance/entry to the site and the front door of the house at the same time.

It would be good if she was given the opportunity to stop unwanted intrusion during any attempt by intruders. For such situations, it is recommended to place the booth near the gate with a wicket. However, here you need to remember one important circumstance.

More often houses are built in such a way that the main entrance is located on the south side or downwind. At the same time, the gates are set up against him. The first option is ideal for the dog, since the kennel door will be located on the north side, as a result of which the dog will not be blinded by sunlight. At the same time, thanks to the fence, she will be provided with shade and a certain coolness during the summer heat.

The second one option is less preferable for the reason that the door of the booth will constantly blow out, as a result of which the dog will not be so comfortable due to the cold. In addition, there is a danger that the roof could be blown off. In this regard, if this option has been chosen, it is recommended to equip the kennel with a roof in the form of a house, you also need to take care of the insulation of the structure, the entrance should be made as narrow as possible to ensure the possibility of unhindered passage into the dog’s kennel.

Also The dog kennel can be placed right at the entrance to the house. Although this option does not provide such a good view for your protector, since the dog will not be able to observe the passages to the backyard, however, this will protect the booth most of the time from strong winds, and in winter, the heat that is reflected from the walls of the building will partially warm doghouse. For this option, it is recommended to make a dog kennel with a flat roof, and widen the entrance as much as possible so that in the summer months your pet does not overheat too much and can sleep on the roof, which will serve as a balcony for him.

How to make a booth with your own hands?

Dimensions

If the owner decided to get a husky or alabai while still a puppy, then when choosing sizes you need to proceed from the fact that they should be suitable for an adult animal. Usually they focus on average sizes corresponding to a specific breed. However, it is best to get advice on this issue by visiting a canine organization or service. It won't be difficult for local experts to tell you what size your pet can grow to.

Rules for calculating booth sizes

Sometimes The provided drawing and description of the booth contains amendments to the dimensions, say, + 10 cm, -5 cm, etc. They must be complied with without fail, since a booth that is too large for the dog would not be the best option, since in this case cold air will penetrate into it. When calculating sizes, you must adhere to the following rules:

  • the depth should correspond to the value L+5 cm;
  • the height should be the same as the H indicator;
  • the width must correspond to 3Wd;
  • the width of the hole is taken to be Wd+5 cm;
  • the height of the hole should be equal to h.

Conclusion

The man, who decided to get a husky, I must understand that the pet will have to be provided with appropriate care. Among all the issues that must be resolved, the most important is the arrangement of housing for a four-legged friend. A booth is the most common option for a summer house or private home. However, it is not so easy to make it, since many issues need to be resolved.

Besides that you need to choose the right place for the dog house, it is important not to make a mistake with the size of the kennel. And to be sure that your dog will be comfortable and warm in the kennel, it is recommended to measure its parameters. It must be remembered that a kennel that is too large is no better than a cramped kennel, and therefore this issue must be approached with the utmost seriousness.

Everyone knows that it is better to keep the Central Asian Shepherd in your home. But at the same time, they are not watchdogs, but require a certain freedom of movement. And the best option in this case is an enclosure for the Alabai. What should it be like and is it possible to build it yourself?

Square. Alabais are large, powerful dogs, so they will definitely feel cramped in a small enclosure. Moreover, it is necessary to place a booth in it, allocate a place for eating and leave room for free movement. Taking all this into account, the size of the Alabai enclosure should be at least 10 sq.m. A large area is welcome, but under no circumstances should it be reduced.

If it is being built for several inhabitants, then it is necessary to add 5 square meters. meters for each pet. Bitches will need more space, since their maintenance involves the appearance of offspring, which also live with the mother for some time.

Height. Alabais have a strong reproductive instinct, which allows male dogs to jump over three-meter fences in search of a “bride.” Therefore, the fence should be as high as possible.

This feature becomes the reason for the ban on installing the booth near fences. Alabais, having climbed onto the roof of the booth, can easily jump over any fence.

Floor. As for the flooring for the enclosure, it should be combined. Concrete is not recommended as it is cold and can lead to various diseases for your pet. It is best to partially asphalt the area.

The rest of the floor is made of softwood boards. The tree is able to maintain a good climate - not overheat in the sun and not freeze in the cold. Of course, cleaning wood flooring is more difficult. Naturally, the pet must be walked, otherwise the floor in the enclosure will very quickly become unusable.

The simplest and most economical option is to fence a plot of land without building a floor and ceiling. But Alabai are famous diggers, so you need to be prepared for the dog to dig the ground under the walls. And, in addition, in rainy weather the pet will have to constantly be in the booth.

Roof. Therefore, it is still worth thinking about the comfort of your pet and making a roof for it. It can be made of corrugated sheets, flexible tiles, ondulin or metal tiles.

Door. On the front side of the enclosure there must be a full-fledged door, and not a hole. This is necessary not only for the dog, but also so that a person can calmly enter. For safety reasons, it should open inward. It would be advisable to equip the entrance with strong metal latches or a large padlock.

Review. The main function of the alabai is to protect the territory, which means that the enclosure must be located where the dog can see the entire yard, or in the most vulnerable place for intruders to penetrate.

Material. Naturally, when choosing materials, you need to take into account the physical characteristics of Central Asian Shepherds. Flimsy buildings will not be able to withstand the pressure of such a powerful beast. The supporting structure must be installed at least a third of the entire length and filled with concrete. Chain-link mesh, often used as an enclosure fence, will not work in this case - Alabais often gnaw through it.

Of course, by turning to professionals, you can order absolutely any enclosure project, even brick buildings. But a simpler option can be done independently, given that, despite its endurance, the pet still needs protection from atmospheric conditions.

Without special construction skills and material resources, you can build a structure from a metal profile by welding a galvanized welded mesh to it. It won't take a lot of time or money.

Photo of an enclosure for alabai

More complex, costly, but also practical, is the installation of metal pipes (the digging must be accompanied by concreting). The gratings are welded to the base. In order for the enclosure to last longer, it is necessary to prime all metal parts and cover them with enamel. It is recommended to use the hot painting method.

It is obligatory to install a door with reliable locks. It is better to lay the floor from pre-sanded boards. To increase service life, it is advisable to treat the floor surface with special solutions that protect the material from rotting.

The roof is constructed using lightweight beams and covered with ondulin. To give your pet protection from the wind, the walls of the enclosure (one or two) can be lined with polycarbonate. The front side must remain visible so that the alabai can perform its security duties.

To provide shade and coolness in the summer heat, you can plant a climbing plant near one of the walls of the enclosure. This is the most profitable option for keeping a Central Asian Shepherd, without harming the pet itself.

Performance qualities of the booth and enclosure

It’s not enough to just build a structure; you also need to properly care for it:

  1. Cleaning the enclosure. The place where the pet is kept must be clean. The enclosure and surrounding space must not be cluttered with unnecessary objects. It needs to be swept twice a day. Excrement must be removed; for these purposes there must be a special shovel and a container, which is also emptied as it is filled. Remains of bones must also be removed from the enclosures in a timely manner. It is necessary to wash the enclosure with water at least once during the warm season. To prevent water from cleaning or rain from stagnating in the enclosure, it is recommended to install ditches or trays along the enclosure. They must have a mandatory slope so that the water spontaneously flows into the sewer or a special container. Of the necessary cleaning equipment you need to have: several iron dustpans, a broom, boxes, a wooden and iron shovel, several large buckets. See.
  2. Disinfection. A mandatory event that must be carried out monthly in the summer, and once every three months in other periods. You can use a three percent solution of creolin or Lysol. It is prepared by dissolving substances in warm water. To spray on surfaces, it is most convenient to use a hydraulic remote control, distributing the liquid on the walls and floor. Disinfection is carried out only after the enclosure has been thoroughly cleaned and cleared of debris. You can let your pet into the enclosure only after the treated surfaces have completely dried. To make wood last longer, you do not need to carry out wet cleaning often. After the event, the tree must dry out.

The enclosure should not be allowed to become overgrown with vegetation. The distance between the ornamental plant and the wall should be at least 20 cm.

In winter, you need to clean the roof regularly, otherwise a layer of snow can simply push through it. It is also recommended to clear the perimeter of the enclosure from snowdrifts, especially during periods of warming and possible snow melting.

In cold weather, you can take care of your pet and cover the entrance to the kennel with a tarpaulin. This is especially important for whelping bitches. For the same purposes, the floor in the booth is covered with straw. It must be changed at least once every seven days.

When getting a Central Asian Shepherd, it is worth considering that this is not a sociable creature and is not suitable for keeping in an enclosure with other animals.

Alabais are considered loyal and very friendly dogs; they are good as a watchman or friend. The dogs have a calm, fearless disposition, and their large size gives them an intimidating appearance. All these qualities make dogs excellent guards of the local area or site. Thanks to their dense wool and undercoat, Alabais tolerate heat and cold well, which allows them to live outdoors without any problems.

Characteristics of a dog house

Alabais are sensitive to various changes in the situation, so the booth for them should be as comfortable and safe as possible. When building a booth, consider not only its size, but also the materials and roof structure.

Material

Usually Alabai stay outside all year round, as their fur allows them to withstand even severe frosts. A wooden structure is best suited for year-round use. The material perfectly retains heat in winter and coolness in summer.

Insulation

Regardless of the type of wall and roof material, the booth must be insulated. It is best to use environmentally friendly materials for these purposes, such as sawdust. Mineral wool and polystyrene foam are also suitable as insulation materials. But remember that mineral wool needs protection from moisture, and polystyrene foam can be laid in buildings far from sources of ignition. In addition, mineral wool, when ingested by a dog, affects the respiratory tract and gastrointestinal tract. When laying the material, carefully insulate it so that the dog cannot reach it.

If you live in a cold region, in winter the booth must be insulated with additional lining with hay and snow. To do this, the kennel is lined with bales of straw (or other similar material, such as sawdust) and covered with loose snow or cubes of hard crust. To prevent snow from sweeping inside the booth, it is worth providing a curtain or door that the dog cannot tear off and through which he can easily pass inside.

Humidity level

To prevent the Alabai from catching a cold or becoming infected with something through the ground, the booth is raised above the ground. When assembling the Alabai booth yourself, check the floor covering for cracks. Even high-quality insulation materials will not save you from cracks and drafts.

Roof structure

The dog's kennel is constantly clogged with wool, supplies and waste products. To avoid the proliferation of pathogenic bacteria, the booth is cleaned every 1-1.5 weeks. For easy cleaning, it is optimal to install a removable roof on your home.

The way of life of the Alabai obliges him to use the roof of the booth as a place for observation and rest, so the roof structure should be flat with a slight slope towards the rear partition.

Advice! The slope will allow water to flow down the booth without flooding the entrance.

Alabais are watchdogs, so they simply need to have an open view of the entire yard. It is best to place the booth on a hill. If there is no elevation on the site, you can make a small embankment that will allow the dog to easily monitor the site.

Booth design and size

Turret roofs and gable structures are not suitable for alabai. You can’t lie on them and watch the world around you.

Note! A booth with a flat roof structure would be ideal.

You should not make too much of an incline; the dog should be comfortable constantly lying on the booth. It is better to arrange the ramp at the back wall. If the booth is located on a slight hill, dig a small trench to drain water from the Alabai’s home.

The removable roof will allow you to clean the kennel and monitor your dog during illness. If you have a bitch, then this design will be convenient during the birth of the dog or while feeding the puppies.

For covering the roof, soft roofing materials such as roofing felt, bitumen shingles or non-slip rubber are optimal. The material should dampen the sounds of rain so that the dog feels comfortable inside in any weather. In addition, it is more convenient for Alabai to climb and move around on the soft upholstery.

Booths with flat roofs are made in two different ways:

  • single partition design;
  • a booth with a vestibule and a place to sleep.

Both structures can be insulated so that they are warm in winter. However, a booth with a vestibule is more convenient for year-round use (an example is shown in the photo).

In a kennel with two sections, the vestibule acts as an air cushion. It protects the sleeping area from drafts, precipitation and wind. The slightest breath of wind, dust and dirt will remain in the first compartment. In addition, the bulk of the dirt from the dog’s paws and fur will remain in the vestibule. A kennel with two compartments will be much warmer in winter and drier in spring. If you are taking the Alabai indoors for the winter, then a booth with one section will do. You can install an additional canopy with a bed so that in the summer the dog has a place to rest in the shade.

Dimensions

It is very important to choose the right size dog house. A cramped house in which an alabai barely fits cannot be called comfortable. However, too large booths are not very practical. The heat from the dog's body and from the insulation will not be enough to maintain a comfortable temperature in freezing temperatures.

If you are planning to buy a kennel, choose a design for a large dog. These houses are made specifically for large breeds. Many offices and companies are engaged in the manufacture of dog booths according to individual measurements. If you plan to build a dog house yourself, use the following calculations for the design:

  • the height of the booth inside should be the sum of the dog’s height and 5-6 spare centimeters;
  • the width is made equal to the length from the tip of the nose to the tailbone of the dog + 7-10 cm;
  • the hole for the booth is made slightly smaller than the size of the dog at the withers, and the width is made according to the size of the chest +5-10 cm.

If you adopted the dog as a puppy, then the above parameters should not be taken into account. In such a case, it is optimal to use standard dimensions:

  • length - 13-135 cm;
  • width - 100 cm;
  • height 85-90 cm;
  • entrance - 50-55 in height and 35 in width.

If you are planning to build an enclosure around a booth or a fence for walking, decide on the material and height of the fence. The length of the fence must be at least two meters. To prevent the dog from undermining, dig the fence 50-70 cm deep. It is optimal to make not a fence, but a full-fledged enclosure in which the Alabai can run around calmly.

For those who are planning to build an Alabai enclosure with their own hands and do not know how to make the correct design, it is better to use the recommended dimensions of an Alabai enclosure. The optimal area of the enclosure for a large dog is 10 square meters, height - 2.5-3 meters.

Drawing and materials

It is more convenient to assemble if all materials and tools are purchased in advance. To calculate the amount of building material for a structure, build a schematic drawing or take a ready-made diagram.

To assemble a standard kennel for alabai you will need:

  • timber 10 by 10 cm, 4 by 4 and 10 by 5 cm;
  • planks for cladding;
  • sheets of particle boards;
  • floor boards 2-3 cm thick;
  • insulation (sawdust, mineral wool, etc.);
  • rolled roofing material;
  • OSB board and other particle boards;
  • glassine;
  • sand;
  • antiseptic treatment for wooden structures;
  • metal staples;
  • fasteners.

Before assembling the booth, carefully sand the wooden structures. Apply antiseptic impregnation only to the outside of the booth; a dog’s sense of smell is stronger than a human’s. Therefore, the dog may not like the strong smell of the impregnation.

Assembly steps

After processing the material and preparing the tools, you can begin assembly. Construction of the booth includes the following steps:

When the booth is ready, you can make an enclosure for the Alabai. Remember that it is better to build a place for the dog from transparent material, for example, from chain-link. In such an enclosure the dog will be comfortable and not bored. The alabai will have a clear view of the yard and surrounding area.

Alabais (a type of Central Asian Shepherd Dog) are the most popular guard dogs. Fearlessness, devotion, excellent guarding qualities and impressive size make them ideal watchdogs. And the peculiarities of the coat allow the Alabai to easily endure heat, cold and other weather surprises.

These dogs are suitable for street living. And recommendations for building a booth and enclosure will help you create comfortable conditions for your pet.

What kind of booth should there be for an Alabai?

Wooden

Alabais, as a rule, live outside all year round. Therefore, when choosing material for a booth, preference should be given to wooden buildings. Wooden booths retain heat well in winter and maintain a comfortable temperature in summer.

Insulated

But no matter what material you use as a basis, the dog’s housing must be insulated. For this purpose, you can use polystyrene foam, sawdust or mineral wool. When mineral wool is swallowed, the lungs and gastrointestinal tract are damaged; use this insulation in such a way that the dog cannot pull it out.

In winter frosts, you can create an additional insulating layer by lining the booth with bales of hay or snow blocks. To insulate the kennel, the openings are curtained with thick fabric, but most Alabais stubbornly tear off the curtain.

Dry

To avoid dampness, the bottom of the booth is raised above the ground. If you are building a booth yourself, check it carefully for any cracks. If the booth is ventilated and there is a cold draft moving through it, no insulation will help.

With removable roof

As for any other breed, the correct booth for alabai must have a removable roof. This will provide easy access to the kennel, which needs to be cleaned weekly. Alabais use the roof of the booth as a watchtower and a place to rest. Only flat roofs are suitable for this purpose, but always with a slight slope towards the rear wall.

The slope is necessary so that water does not accumulate on the surface, but drains faster.

Alabais are a breed of open space dogs that need to monitor the entire territory. Therefore, the Alabai booth must be installed on a small hill, from where most of the protected area can be seen.

Shape and size of the Alabai booth

Form

Alabais love to use their booth as an observation post, from the roof of which they have a view of the entire territory. It is clear that turret roofs are completely unsuitable for these purposes. Perfect DIY booth for Central Asian Shepherd it is a simple flat roof design. But it is important to note that there must be a slight slope at the surface of the roof towards the rear wall. In this way, water is drained from the booth.

When choosing a ready-made booth or ordering according to individual parameters, pay special attention to the roof. It should be removable (opening) so that you can easily clean the kennel and always have access to your dog in case of illness.

It is also worth noting that the roof should be covered with a soft material (for example, asphalt shingles), which will muffle the annoying sounds of rain or hail. Drops hitting the metal surface can irritate the dog, preventing it from resting.

The flat roof model is available in two versions:

Although both options could be insulated, if your Alabai is kept outdoors all year round, preference should be given to a booth with two compartments.

The vestibule serves as additional protection from wind and drafts. In addition, most of the dirt and water that the dog drags into the kennel is retained in the vestibule and does not end up on the Alabai’s sleeping place. In winter frosts, such a booth is much warmer than a simple kennel.

If your pet spends outside only in the warm season, you can do without a vestibule and install a deck with a canopy where the Alabai can relax in the open air without fear of direct sunlight.

Dimensions

Determining the size of the booth is one of the most important stages in creating housing for the Alabai. A cramped kennel, into which a dog can hardly fit, cannot be called comfortable. But an Alabai is unlikely to like a booth that is too spacious, because it is difficult to warm it with the warmth of a dog’s body. This means that in cold weather the dog will freeze.

When purchasing in a store, choose designs with sizes for large dogs. In our online store of animal booths you can not only choose the appropriate model, but also order a design made to individual sizes.

  • the internal height of the structure is equal to the height of the alabai + 5 cm;
  • booth width – alabai length from nose to tailbone + 5-10 cm;
  • parameters of the entrance: height is slightly less than or equal to the height of the dog at the withers, and the width of the entrance is equal to the width of the Alabai chest + 10 cm.

But if an Alabai puppy needs a kennel for growth, you won’t be able to take exact measurements. Then you will have to resort to standardized calculations:

  • booth length – 130 cm;
  • width – about 100 cm;
  • height – up to 90 cm;
  • entrance to the kennel – 50x35 cm.

It's good if you have the opportunity to keep your dog free-range. The fence in this case must be at least 2 meters in height. To avoid undermining, you need to secure the fence, deepening it 60 cm into the ground. But if people move freely around the territory, it is advisable to install an enclosure for the Alabai, in which the dog can spend time during the day without disturbing the owners and guests. Further,
The booth for the Alabai, the dimensions of which we have already determined, needs a drawing.

Drawing of a booth for alabai

Booth material

The worst thing you can do is buy a metal kennel for your dog. This design gets very hot in the summer and is cold in the winter. Alabai would rather sleep in the snow than in such a structure.

If you decide to buy a brick house for a dog, make sure that it is insulated and lined with plywood or boards from the inside.

The best material for building dog houses of any breed is wood. Wooden booths retain heat in cold weather and do not heat up in hot weather.

In most cases, boards are used, but you can also order. Before you buy a wooden dog house, pay attention to the processing of the wood: the wood must be carefully sanded so that the dog cannot get a splinter.

Also, the boards must be impregnated with an antiseptic, but only on the outside. If unpleasant odors hover inside the booth, the Alabai may refuse to enter it.

What will you need to build a booth?

The construction process will be easier and faster if everything you need is at hand. To create a booth you may need:

  • dry bars measuring 100x100 mm, 40x40 mm and 100x50 mm;
  • lining for cladding;
  • plywood or chipboard;
  • floor board about 25 mm thick;
  • polystyrene foam or other insulation;
  • OSB board;
  • roofing felt or bituminous shingles;
  • glassine for waterproofing;
  • antiseptic impregnation for wood;
  • sand;
  • galvanized nails;
  • metal staples;
  • hinges for doors.

The wood must be properly cleaned before work to prevent splinters from occurring in the dog. But you need to treat the wood with an antiseptic in a ready-made booth and only from the outside: a dog’s sense of smell is much sharper than a human’s and unpleasant odors in the home can irritate it.

Stages of booth construction

The work on creating a doghouse for a Turkmen dog with your own hands is divided into several stages:

  1. Preliminary preparation: selection of material, booth location, measurement of parameters.
  2. Create a drawing with all necessary sizes.
  3. Assembling the bottom of the booth: 40x40 cm bars are cut to the length and width of the bottom and assembled into a rectangular frame, after which they are lined with floorboards on one side.

  • Floor insulation: The prepared bottom is laid with the bars up and a layer of glassine is laid on it, foam plastic is laid on top and again a layer of glassine. The insulation is secured with staples. At the end, the floorboards are stuffed.

  • Assembling the booth frame:prepare four columns of 100x100 mm bars (2 are equal to the height of the booth, and two are 6-8 cm higher). The bars are fixed in a vertical position at the corners of the finished bottom, and longer bars are installed to the front wall to create a slope for the future roof. Additionally, bars are installed in the center of long walls. Vertical and horizontal bars are also installed to limit the future hole.

  • Sheathingwalls: the finished frame is sheathed on the outside with clapboard. They immediately move on to insulating the booth. The walls are covered with a layer of glassine, securing it with a stapler. Next, the free space between the bars is filled with insulation (foam plastic, mineral wool, pressed sawdust). Another layer of glassine is laid on top and sheathed with plywood or chipboard. It is necessary to ensure that the heads of the nails are well sunk into the wood so that the dog cannot get hurt.

  • Roof making: A frame is made from 40x40 mm bars, which is equal to the inner perimeter of the booth. An OSB sheet of the same size is fixed to the inside of the frame. Insulation is placed between the bars and glassine is laid on top, which is attached using a stapler. Larger plywood is attached to the top, which will protect the walls and entrance from rain: it should protrude 20 cm at the front wall and 10 cm on the sides and back. Plywood and OSB sheets can be replaced with 25 mm wide boards. The roof is attached to the back wall of the booth using door hinges. The top of the roof is covered with roofing felt or bitumen shingles.

  • Finishing: The outside of the finished booth is treated with an antiseptic. Boards are attached to the bottom of the structure, which will raise the dog’s home above the ground. They decorate the manhole of the booth. The finished booth is fixed in the prepared place.
You can not limit yourself to building a booth, but build a full-fledged enclosure with your own hands.

Of course, in case of frost, you can additionally insulate the purchased booth by covering it with bales of hay and curtaining it with thick fabric, but it is better to pay attention to the insulation of the booth while still choosing it. Make sure that the insulation does not stick out and the dog cannot pull it out.

This is especially important if mineral wool is used as insulation, which can cause diseases of the lungs and gastrointestinal tract. The safest and most practical insulation is polystyrene foam. Sawdust is often used to insulate booths, but over time it becomes compressed, losing its thermal insulation properties.

Place to install the booth

The first step is to choose the optimal place to install the Alabai booth on the territory. This should be an area in the shade, located on a small hill, about 10 meters from residential buildings.

If the Alabai's booth is located in direct sunlight, the dog may get heatstroke. But it’s also not worth setting up your pet’s home in a remote, dark place. Alabai needs to monitor the territory, so the location of the booth should provide an overview of most of the protected area.

Please note that the chosen location for the booth should not flood when meltwater melts or prolonged rain.

Alabai does not tolerate being in the vicinity of other living creatures, so it must be housed away from farms. It is fundamentally wrong to install a booth in a barn, although this option is quite popular.

Once you have decided on the location of the booth, you can proceed to choosing a housing model and selecting materials.

Aviary booth

If the Alabai wanders freely throughout the entire area most of the day, you may need a small enclosure with a booth in which the dog can rest while you receive guests. A similar design can be ordered in our online store in Moscow. The floor of the enclosure should be wooden.

A roof is optional, but desirable: then the alabai will be able to stay in the fresh air without fear of rain or hot sun rays. The enclosure door should open inward. Alabais are strong dogs, they can unintentionally knock down the door, joyfully greeting you. Therefore, it is important to pay special attention to locks: they must be strong and reliable.
